Fuel consumption, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions
Fuel consumption is measured according to the uniform European method 80/1268/EEC. It is by no means identical to average consumption, which depends on many factors, such as driving style, load, road conditions, traffic density, weather, tire pressure, etc. Engine performance data is measured according to European method 80/1269/EEC or DIN 70020 for vehicles in standard production configuration.
Permitted deviations are also strictly regulated. Additional equipment or accessories (roof rack, wide tires, additional mirrors, etc.) significantly affect performance and fuel consumption, since they change the vehicle mass and the drag coefficient c.
