Interference

Radio waves may interfere with the comfort access function. In this case, you can lock or unlock the vehicle by pressing the corresponding buttons on the remote control or by turning the key in the door lock. To then start the engine, insert the electronic key into the ignition lock.

Indicator lamps

The indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lights when attempting to start the engine: starting the engine is not possible. The electronic key is not detected inside the vehicle or is faulty. Make sure the key is inside the vehicle. If a fault is suspected, have the key checked at a BMW service center.

Try inserting a different key into the ignition lock.

The indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lights while the engine is running: the system no longer detects the electronic key inside the vehicle. After switching off the engine, it can be restarted only within 10 seconds.
