Overview

The EPAS system assists the driver when steering by replacing the conventional hydraulic pump system with an electric motor connected to the steering shaft. The system is controlled by the PSCM, which determines the steering effort using sensors installed between the steering column shaft and the steering gear. Steering assist is provided in proportion to the steering wheel effort and vehicle speed.
