Parking Aid - Audible Warning

The rear parking aid system provides a warning tone through the rear cabin audio speakers to alert the driver to stationary objects near the rear bumper when REVERSE is selected. The parking aid system helps the driver detect certain objects when the vehicle moves slowly in REVERSE at speeds below 4.8 km/h. The rear parking aid system may not detect moving objects.

If equipped, the front parking aid system provides a warning tone through the front audio speakers to alert the driver to stationary objects near the front bumper in all transmission gears except PARK and NEUTRAL. The parking aid system helps the driver detect certain objects when the vehicle moves at speeds below 4.8 km/h. The front parking aid system may not detect moving objects.

The parking aid system is disabled if a fault is detected in the parking aid sensor, communication network, or Parking Aid Module (PAM). This is indicated by a Parking Aid Disabled warning message in the message center.

The parking aid system is turned on and off through the message center located in the IPC. The deactivation lasts for one key cycle.

If a MyKey® restricted-access key is used, the parking aid menu is not available in the message center and cannot be deactivated.

Parking Aid - Visual

The camera system provides visual assistance to the driver when backing up or parking the vehicle in reverse. This feature provides fixed and active guideline overlays on the video image to help the driver align the vehicle. The visual parking aid also includes a visual alert feature, which works with the rear audible parking aid system to visually highlight the area on the video image where an object has been detected. For information on how to operate the camera system features, refer to the Owner's Manual.
