Removal

1. 1
   Remove the rear axle shaft.
   Refer to: Rear Axle Shaft (205-05 Rear Axle Shafts, Removal and Installation).

   Remove the rear axle shaft seal.

   

Installation

1. 1
   Using the special tools, install the rear axle shaft seal.
   Use the special service tools: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle, 205-990 Installer, Axle Shaft Seal.

   Install the rear axle shaft.
   Refer to: Rear Axle Shaft (205-05 Rear Axle Shafts, Removal and Installation).

   If empty, fill the rear axle with 0.6 L Rear Axle Lubricant. If the fluid level is low, fill to 3-5 mm (0.118-0.196 in) below the bottom of the fill hole and install the fill plug.
   Material: Motorcraft® SAE 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant / XY-80W90-QL (WSP-M2C197-A)
   Torque: 21 lb-ft (29 N·m)
