Fuses and Circuit Breakers

~1min read

The vehicle wiring circuits are protected against short circuits by a combination of fuses and circuit breakers. This significantly reduces the likelihood of damage caused by electrical problems.

To check a fuse, look at the silver-colored strip inside the fuse. If the strip is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure to replace a faulty fuse with a new one of the same size and rating.

Fuses of the same current rating may be temporarily borrowed from another fuse location if a fuse blows out. Replace the fuse as soon as possible.

The engine compartment fuse block has a fuse puller. Refer to Engine Compartment Fuse Block. It can be used to easily remove fuses from the fuse block.

To identify and check fuses, circuit breakers and relays, refer to Engine Compartment Fuse Block or Instrument Panel Fuse Block and Rear Compartment Fuse Block.
