Recommended Lubricants and Capacities

~1min read

To ensure proper performance and durability of the engine and transmission, use only lubricants of appropriate quality. Correct lubricants also contribute to engine efficiency, resulting in improved fuel economy.

These lubricants and fluids are recommended for use in your vehicle.

CAUTION

Always be sure to clean the area around any filler plug, drain plug, or dipstick before checking or draining any lubricant. This is especially important in dusty or sandy areas and when the vehicle is operated on unpaved roads. Cleaning the plug and dipstick area will prevent dirt and sand from entering the engine and other mechanisms, which could be damaged.

Engine oil viscosity (thickness) affects fuel economy and cold weather operation (engine starting and oil flow). Engine oils with lower viscosity may provide better fuel economy and cold weather performance; however, engine oils with higher viscosity are required for satisfactory lubrication in hot weather.

Using oils of any viscosity other than the recommended may cause engine damage.

When selecting oil, consider the temperature range in which your vehicle will be operated until the next oil change. Refer to the table to select the recommended oil viscosity.
