To remind the rear passenger, the rear seat belt warning indicators will illuminate for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition is turned on, regardless of whether the belt is fastened.

If the seat belt is not fastened while the ignition key is on, or if it is unfastened after the ignition switch is on, the seat belt warning light will remain on until the seat belt is fastened.

If you start driving without the seat belt fastened, or you unfasten the seat belt while driving at speeds up to 12 mph (20 km/h), the corresponding warning light will remain on until the seat belt is fastened.

If you continue driving without the seat belt fastened, or you unfasten the seat belt while driving at speeds over 12 mph (20 km/h), the unfastened seat belt warning will sound for approximately 35 seconds and the corresponding warning light will flash.

WARNING

Riding in an incorrect position adversely affects the rear passenger unfastened seat belt warning system.

It is important for the driver to instruct passengers to sit properly, as described in this manual.

Information

• Even when the rear passenger seat is unoccupied, the unfastened seat belt warning indicator may flash or illuminate for 6 seconds.
• The rear passenger unfastened seat belt warning may activate when luggage, a laptop, or other electronic device is placed on the rear passenger seat.
