Inspection on Vehicle

Inspect the Ignition Coil Assembly and Perform Spark Test

  1. Check for DTCs.
    Hyundai Palisade. Repair procedures
    • If a diagnostic trouble code is present, perform troubleshooting in accordance with the procedure for that DTC. (Refer to the Diagnostic Trouble Code Manual)
  2. Check whether sparks occur.
    1. Remove the engine cover.
    2. Remove the ignition coils. (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "Ignition Coil")
    3. Using a spark plug socket, remove the spark plugs.
    4. Disconnect the 6 injector extension connectors.
    5. Ground the spark plug to the engine.
    6. Check whether a spark occurs at each spark plug while cranking the engine.

    • Do not crank the engine for more than 5 seconds.
  3. If no sparks occur, perform the following check.

  4. Using a spark plug socket, install the spark plugs.
  5. Install the ignition coils.
  6. Install the engine cover.
