Description

The evaporative emission control system consists of three main systems.
  • The crankcase emission control system prevents blow-by gases from escaping into the atmosphere. This system recirculates gas to the intake manifold (closed-type crankcase ventilation).
  • The evaporative emission control system prevents fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. This system collects vapors in the canister and burns them during engine operation.
  • The exhaust emission control system converts hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless substances using a three-way catalytic converter.
