TOWING

If the vehicle must be towed, call a professional service. Never tow a vehicle with a simple rope or chain. This is very dangerous.

Emergency Towing

There are three common methods of towing a vehicle:
  • A professional loads the vehicle onto the bed of a tow truck. This is the safest method of transporting the vehicle.
  • The tow truck uses two rotating arms that are placed under the wheels of the drive axle and lift them. The other two wheels remain in contact with the ground.
  • The tow truck uses metal cables with hooks on their ends. These hooks engage the chassis components or suspension parts and the cables lift the end of the vehicle. The suspension and body may be seriously damaged if this method is used. If the vehicle cannot be transported on a flatbed, transport it with the drive axle wheels raised and follow the procedure below:
Manual Transmission
  • Release the parking brake.
  • Place the transmission in Neutral.
Automatic Transmission
  • Release the parking brake.
  • Start the engine.
  • Shift to the [D] position and the [N] position.
  • Turn the engine off.

Towing in case of ECS malfunction: The ECS warning lamp illuminates when there is no air in the suspension system, and the vehicle height is very low. Do not drive the vehicle to protect it from road-surface splash. Place the vehicle on level ground. Take your vehicle to a HYUNDAI dealer by towing the vehicle and have the system inspected.
