Recommended Lubricants and Capacities
To achieve proper engine and transmission performance and durability, use only lubricants of proper quality. Correct lubricants also contribute to engine efficiency, which results in improved fuel economy. These lubricants and fluids are recommended for use in your vehicle.

Always clean the area around the oil filler cap, drain plug, or dipstick before checking or draining any lubricant. This is especially important in dusty, sandy areas and when driving on unpaved roads. Cleaning the cap and dipstick areas will prevent dirt and sand from entering the engine or other components, which could cause damage.
Engine oil viscosity (thickness) affects fuel economy and cold weather operation (engine starting and oil flow). Engine oils with lower viscosity may provide better fuel economy and cold weather performance; however, higher viscosity engine oils are necessary for adequate lubrication in hot weather. Using oils of any viscosity other than recommended may cause engine damage.
When selecting oil, consider the temperature range in which your vehicle will be operated before the next oil change. Select the recommended oil viscosity from the chart.

Fully synthetic engine oil meeting API SN PLUS (or higher) is required. If an engine oil with a lower rating (mineral, including semi-synthetic) is used, the engine oil and engine oil filter must be replaced as specified under severe service conditions.
