Starter Relay Repair Procedures

Inspection

   Disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Remove the fuse block cover.

   Remove the starter relay (A).

   Using an ohmmeter, check for an open circuit between the terminals.

   Thick head	Continuity?	Tester connection
   30 - 87	1 MΩ or higher	If there is continuity, replace the relay.
   85 - 86	Continuity	If there is no continuity, replace the relay.

   Apply 12 V across terminal 85 and ground terminal 86. Check for continuity between terminals 30 and 87.

   Thick head	Continuity
   30 - 87	Below 1 ohm
   85 - 86	Apply 12 V

   If not, replace the starter relay.

   Install the starter relay.

   Install the fuse block cover.
