If tire pressure drops while driving
If air pressure drops while driving:
1. Release the accelerator pedal and allow the vehicle to slow down while continuing to drive straight ahead. Do not attempt to brake immediately or steer off the road, as this may cause loss of control.
After the vehicle has slowed to a safe speed, begin to brake gently and steer off the road. Stop the vehicle on a firm, level surface as far from the road as possible. If on a divided highway, do not stop the vehicle on the median strip.
2. After the vehicle has stopped, turn on the hazard warning flashers and apply the parking brake; shift the transmission into “P” (automatic transmission) or engage reverse (manual transmission).
3. Get all passengers out of the vehicle. Make sure they exit on the side away from traffic.
4. When replacing a wheel with a faulty tire, follow the instructions in this section.
