If the engine does not crank or cranks slowly

  • Make sure the shift lever is in N (Neutral) or P (Park). The engine will start only when the shift lever is in N (Neutral) or P (Park).
  • Check the battery connections to make sure they are clean and tight.
  • Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out while the starter is operating, the battery is discharged. Do not push or tow the vehicle to start it. This may damage your vehicle. See the instructions for "Jump Starting" provided in this chapter.

WARNING

Push-starting or towing the vehicle may overload the catalytic converter, which may damage the emission control system.

If the engine cranks normally but does not start

Check the fuel level and add fuel if necessary.

If the engine still does not start, call an authorized HYUNDAI dealer or seek other qualified assistance.
