Inspection

  1. Disconnect the vapor hose from the PCV valve, then remove the PCV valve.
  2. Reconnect the PCV valve to the vapor hose.
  3. Run the engine at idle, then place your finger over the open end of the PCV valve and check that vacuum is felt in the intake manifold.
    • The piston inside the PCV valve will move back and forth due to the vacuum.
  4. If vacuum is not felt, check the operation of the PCV valve. If it operates properly, clean or replace the vapor hose.
