INFORMATION SECURITY
Your vehicle may be a connected vehicle and may be equipped with both wired and wireless networks. These networks allow your vehicle to send and receive information. This information allows the systems and features of your vehicle to function properly.
Your vehicle may be equipped with certain security features that reduce the risk of unauthorized and illegal access to vehicle systems and wireless communications. Vehicle software technology continues to evolve over time, and FCA US LLC, working with its suppliers, evaluates and implements appropriate measures as needed. Like a computer or other devices, your vehicle may require software updates to improve the usability and performance of your system or to reduce the potential risk of unauthorized and illegal access to your vehicle system.
The risk of unauthorized and illegal access to your vehicle's systems may still exist even with the latest version of vehicle software (such as Uconnect software).
- It is not possible to know or predict all possible consequences if your vehicle's systems are hacked. It is possible that vehicle systems, including safety-related systems, may be damaged or that control of the vehicle may be lost, which could result in a crash causing serious injury or death.
- ONLY insert media (such as USB or CD) into your vehicle if it comes from a trusted source. Media of unknown origin may contain malicious software, and if installed in your vehicle, it may increase the opportunity for vehicle systems to be hacked.
- As always, if you experience unusual vehicle behavior, take it to the nearest authorized dealer immediately.
NOTE:
- FCA US LLC or an authorized dealer may contact you directly regarding software updates.
- To further enhance vehicle security and minimize the potential risk of a security breach, vehicle owners should:
- Regularly check www.driveuconnect.com (for residents of the U.S.) or www.driveuconnect.ca (for residents of Canada) for available Uconnect software updates.
- Connect and use only trusted media devices (such as personal mobile phones, USB devices, CDs).
The privacy of any wireless and wired communication cannot be guaranteed. Third parties may illegally intercept information and private communications without your consent. For more information, refer to the Data Collection and Privacy section in your Uconnect Owner's Account, the User's Guide Supplement, or the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD II) Cybersecurity section.
