Jack and Support Points

When heavy rear components such as the suspension, fuel tank, spare tire, tailgate, and trunk lid are removed, place additional weight in the luggage compartment before lifting. When significant weight is removed from the rear of the vehicle, the center of gravity may shift and may cause the vehicle to tip over on the lift.
  • Since each tire/wheel assembly weighs approximately 14 kg (30 lb), placing the front wheels in the luggage compartment can help distribute the weight.
  • Use the same support points when supporting the vehicle on safety stands.
  1. Position the lift pads under the support points as shown in the illustration.
  2. Raise the lift a few inches (centimeters) and rock the vehicle to make sure it is securely supported.
  3. Raise the lift to full height to check the lifting points for secure support.
Using a Scissor Jack
Using a scissor jack may damage the side sill molding panel, because the jack point is located higher than the side sill molding panel.
Place wooden or rubber blocks (more than 50 mm (1.9685 in.) high) between the lift and the vehicle lifting point to prevent damage to the sealing molding panel at the side.
