Recommended Lubricants and Capacities

~1min read

To ensure proper engine and transmission performance and durability, use only lubricants of the proper quality. Correct lubricants also help improve engine efficiency, resulting in improved fuel economy.

These lubricants and fluids are recommended for use in your vehicle.

Recommended SAE Viscosity Number

Engine oil viscosity (thickness) affects fuel economy and cold weather operation (engine starting and engine oil flow). Low viscosity engine oils may provide better fuel economy and cold weather performance; however, higher viscosity engine oils are necessary for satisfactory lubrication in hot weather. Using oil of any viscosity other than recommended may cause engine damage. When selecting oil, consider the temperature range in which your vehicle will be operated until the next oil change. Refer to the chart to select the recommended oil viscosity.

To improve fuel economy, it is recommended to use engine oil of SAE viscosity grade 5W-30 (API Latest or ILSAC Latest, or ACEA A5/B5). However, if the recommended engine oil is not available in your country, select a suitable engine oil using the engine oil viscosity chart.
