The redesigned Sorento crossover (platform code XMA) was launched in South Korea in 2009. It is the first Kia model to be produced in the United States, at the new $1 billion Kia plant in West Point, Georgia (which also builds the related Hyundai Santa Fe). The Sorento features Kia's new signature grille design, known as the Tiger Nose.
