Inspection

   Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels point straight ahead.

   Measure the distance the steering wheel can be turned without moving the front wheels.

   Standard value: 30 mm (1.1811 in.) or less

   If the play exceeds the specified value, inspect the steering column, shaft, and linkage.

   Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.

   Attach a spring scale to the steering wheel. At engine speed of 900 to 1100 rpm, pull the scale and read the value as soon as the tires start to turn.

   Standard value: 3.0 kgf or less

   If the measured value exceeds the specified value, inspect the power steering gear box and MDPS system.
