Introduction

Use extreme care when using this manual for inspection or maintenance to avoid injuring yourself or others and to avoid damaging the vehicle.

If you are not certain of the procedure described, it is strongly recommended that the work be performed by a specialist garage, preferably a authorized Mazda dealer.

Mazda factory-trained technicians and genuine Mazda parts ensure the best results. Without this expertise and parts specifically designed and manufactured for this Mazda vehicle, improper, incomplete, or insufficient maintenance may cause problems. This may damage the vehicle and cause an accident and injury.

For expert advice and quality maintenance, contact an authorized Mazda dealer.

To keep your warranty in effect and protect your investment, it is your responsibility to properly maintain your vehicle according to the factory-recommended services described in this manual. For this purpose, you must keep your maintenance record, receipts, repair orders, and any other documents as proof that the maintenance was performed. You must present these documents in the event of a dispute over warranty coverage. Failure to do so may void your warranty in whole or in part.

This proof may consist of the following:

  • The Mazda scheduled maintenance record (refer to the warranty booklet) must be fully completed, showing the mileage, repair order number, and date of each service, and must be signed by a qualified automotive technician who performed the maintenance.
  • Original copies of repair orders or other receipts showing the mileage and date on which the vehicle was serviced. Each receipt must be signed by a qualified automotive technician.
  • For maintenance you performed yourself, a statement confirming that the work was done, showing the mileage and date on which the work was performed. Receipts for replacement parts (fluids, filters, etc.) showing the date and mileage must also be attached to this statement.

NOTE

If you choose to perform maintenance yourself or have your vehicle serviced at a location other than an authorized Mazda dealer, Mazda requires that all fluids, parts, and equipment meet Mazda standards for durability and performance as described in this manual.

Warranty claims resulting from lack of maintenance, rather than from a defect in material or workmanship by an authorized Mazda dealer, will be denied.

Any garage using parts equivalent to genuine Mazda parts may perform maintenance. However, we recommend that it always be performed by an authorized Mazda dealer using genuine Mazda parts.
