Important safety notes

~3min read
WARNING

You can adjust the seats when the key is not in the ignition switch. Therefore, do not leave children unattended in the vehicle. They could become trapped while trying to adjust the seats.

WARNING

Adjust the driver's seat only when the vehicle is stationary, as this distracts your attention from the traffic. In addition, the movement of the seat could cause you to lose control of the vehicle, and you could cause an accident.

WARNING

If you are not careful when adjusting the seat height, you may become trapped and injured, or trap and injure other persons. Children in particular could accidentally operate the electric seat adjustment switches and become trapped.

Make sure

  • not to slide your hands under the linkage of the adjustment system when moving the seat
  • that children in the vehicle do not slide their hands under the levers
WARNING

Make sure that no one becomes trapped when adjusting the seats.

Observe the notes on airbags.

Secure children in accordance with the recommendations in the section "Transporting children".

WARNING

A seat belt can provide the intended protection only if the seatback is almost upright and the occupant sits up straight. Avoid seat positions that obstruct the routing of the seat belt. Therefore, set the backrest as upright as possible. Never drive with the backrest reclined significantly. Otherwise, you could be seriously or fatally injured in an accident or in heavy braking.

WARNING

Make sure your head is supported at eye level and rests in the center of the head restraint. If your head is not properly supported by the head restraint, you may be seriously injured in the neck area in an accident. Never drive without the head restraint locked in place and adjusted.

To avoid damaging the seats and the seat heating, observe the following notes:
  • Take care not to spill liquids on the seats. If anything does spill on the seats, dry them as quickly as possible.
  • If the covers are wet or damp, do not switch on the seat heating. Do not use the seat heating to dry the seats either.
  • Clean the covers in accordance with the recommendations in the chapter "Interior care".
  • Do not transport heavy loads on the seats. Also do not place sharp objects on the seat cushions (for example knives, nails or tools). Where possible, use the seats only for transporting people.
  • When using the seat heating, do not cover the seats with insulating materials (for example blankets, coats, bags, protective covers, child seats or booster cushions).
Before returning the seats to the driving position, make sure the floor in front of and behind the seats is free of objects. The seats and/or the objects may be damaged. The head restraints of the front and rear seats can be removed.
