Important safety notes

WARNING

Antifreeze is highly flammable. Therefore, do not smoke or bring a flame or open fire near antifreeze when handling it.

If antifreeze comes into contact with hot engine parts, it may ignite and you could be burned. Therefore, avoid spilling antifreeze on hot engine parts.

Always fill the cooling system with coolant prepared in advance, in proportions that provide the desired antifreeze protection. Otherwise, you risk damaging the engine.

For more information on coolant, refer to the Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids and Lubricants (MB 310.1), which you can find for example at the website http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com. You can also contact a qualified workshop.

Always use a suitable coolant, even in countries where temperatures are high.

Otherwise, the engine cooling system will not be sufficiently protected against corrosion and overheating

The coolant must be replaced after 15 years or 250,000 kilometers at the latest.

Coolant is a mixture of water and anticorrosion and antifreeze agent. It serves to provide

  • corrosion protection
  • antifreeze protection
  • an increase in the boiling point

If the correct proportion of antifreeze and anticorrosion agent is maintained, the boiling point of the coolant is approximately 130 °C during operation.La proportion de produit anticorrosion et antigel dans le circuit de refroidissementduring operation.

The proportion of anticorrosion and antifreeze agent in the engine cooling system should be

  • 50 % at minimum. The engine cooling system is thus protected against freezing down to approximately -37 °C.55 % au maximum (protection antigel jusqu'à - 45approximately.
  • 55 % at maximum (antifreeze protection down to -45 °Cest compromise.). Otherwise, heat dissipation is impaired.

If your vehicle loses coolant, top up with a 50/50 mixture of water and anticorrosion and antifreeze agent. Mercedes-Benz recommends using an anticorrosion and antifreeze concentrate in accordance with sheet 310.1 of the Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids and Lubricants.

On delivery, the cooling system is filled with a coolant that provides protection against freezing and corrosion.
