Displaying messages Possible causes/consequences and solutions
To start: select position P or N You tried to start the engine while the transmission is in R or D.
  • Shift the transmission to P or N.
Backup battery fault The automatic transmission backup battery is no longer charging.
  • Visit a qualified workshop at the next opportunity.
  • Until then, always shift the automatic transmission to P before switching off the engine.
  • Before leaving the vehicle, apply the electric parking brake.
To leave P position, apply the brake You tried to shift the transmission to D, R or N without depressing the brake pedal.
  • Press the brake pedal.
Transmission in driving position The driver's door is open and the transmission is in R, N or D.

In addition, a warning tone sounds.

  • Shift the transmission to P.
  • Apply the electric parking brake.
Drive to the workshop without changing gear You can no longer change the transmission position due to a fault.

If the transmission is in D:

  • Visit a qualified workshop without changing from D.

If the transmission is in R, N or P:

  • Contact a qualified workshop.
Position P only possible when the vehicle is stopped The vehicle is still moving.
  • Stop the vehicle, taking traffic conditions into account.
  • Shift the transmission to P.
