Locking the vehicle

~1min read

If you can no longer lock the vehicle with the key, use the emergency key.

  • Open the driver's door.
  • Close the passenger door, the rear doors and the tailgate.
  • Press the locking button.
  • Check whether the locking buttons of the passenger door and the rear doors are still visible. If they are, press them in by hand.
  • Close the driver's door.
  • Remove the emergency key from the key.
  • Insert the emergency key into the driver's door lock as far as it will go.
  • Turn the emergency key clockwise as far as it will go (position 1).
On vehicles with right-hand drive, you must turn the emergency key counterclockwise.
  • Return the emergency key to its initial position, then remove it.
  • Check that the doors and the tailgate are properly locked.
  • Put the emergency key back into the key.
If you lock the vehicle as described above, the fuel filler flap is not locked. The anti-theft and intrusion alarm system is not armed.
