Weights

~2min read

The weights shown are for a basic vehicle without options: they vary depending on your vehicle's equipment. Consult a Brand Representative.

Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) Gross Axle Weight (GAW) Gross Train Weight (GTW) Weights shown on the manufacturer's plate (refer to the “Identification plates” section in chapter 6)
Braked trailer weight* Obtained by calculation: GTW - GVW
Unbraked trailer weight* 525
Permitted load on towing hitch* 575
Permitted load on roof 80 kg (including roof rack system)

* Towable load (towing a caravan, boat, ...)

Towing is prohibited when the calculation GTW - GVW equals zero, or when the GTW equals zero (or is not specified) on the manufacturer's plate.

  • It is important to observe the towing conditions permitted by local legislation and, in particular, those defined by the Highway Code. For any towing hitch modification, contact your Brand Representative.
  • When towing, the total train weight (vehicle + trailer) must never be exceeded. However, the following is tolerated:
  • rear GAW exceeded by up to 15%,
  • GVW exceeded by up to 10% or 100 kg (whichever limit is reached first).

In both cases, the maximum speed of the towing vehicle and trailer must not exceed 100 km/h, and the tyre pressure must be increased by 0.2 bar (3 PSI).

  • Engine output and hill-climbing ability decrease with altitude, so we recommend reducing the maximum load by 10% at 1,000 metres, then by a further 10% for each additional 1,000 metres.

Load transfer (except company versions)

Depending on local legislation, when the vehicle's GVW is not reached, up to 300 kg can be transferred to the braked trailer, within the vehicle's GTW.
