The display shows the direction of travel.

Operating principles

Functions are controlled by pressing the setting button with a pointed object (for example, a ballpoint pen). Depending on how long the button is held down, the following setting options open in turn:

► Short press: switch display on/off
► 3–6 seconds: zone setting
► 6–9 seconds: compass calibration
► 9–12 seconds: left-hand/right-hand drive setting
► 12–15 seconds: language selection

Zone setting

For the compass readings to be correct, set the appropriate zone. See the zone map.

To select the zone, hold the setting button down for 3–4 seconds.

The display shows the number of the currently set zone.

To change the zone, press the button as many times as needed until the display shows the zone number for your location.

After 10 seconds the compass is ready for operation again.

Calibrating the digital compass

The digital compass requires calibration in the following cases:

► Incorrect display of the compass direction.
► The compass direction does not change when changing the direction of travel.
► Not all compass directions are displayed.

Procedure

1. Select an area where you can drive in circles. Make sure there are no power lines nearby and no large metal objects.

2. Set the correct zone on the compass.

3. Hold the setting button down for 6–7 seconds until the display shows C. Drive at least one full circle at a speed of no more than 7 km/h.

Calibration is successful if a compass direction appears on the display instead of C.

Left-Hand/Right-Hand Drive Setting

At the factory, the digital compass was already set to the side on which the steering wheel is located in the vehicle.

Language Selection

The display language can be selected:

Hold the setting button down for 12–13 seconds. Switch from “E” for English to “O” for German and vice versa by briefly pressing the button.

10 seconds after the last press, the setting is automatically saved in memory.
