Loading the Roof

~1min read

Luggage placed on the roof shifts the center of gravity of the vehicle. This noticeably changes the dynamic characteristics and handling of the vehicle. Therefore, when carrying luggage, do not exceed the maximum roof load, the gross vehicle weight and the axle loads.

The corresponding data can be found in the section "Weights" on page 131.

Luggage on the roof should be placed evenly and compactly. Heavy items go on the bottom. Make sure the roof load does not interfere with the sunroof or prevent opening the luggage compartment lid.

Proper and secure fastening of the load prevents it from shifting or falling off the vehicle while driving.

Drive smoothly, avoiding jerky starts, hard braking and abrupt cornering.
