Brake Fluid

The warning lamp lights red even though the parking brake is released, and a message appears on the control display – stop driving immediately.

Brake fluid level in the reservoir is low.

The brake pedal travel may also increase noticeably. Have the system checked at a BMW service center as soon as possible.

Further driving may require greater force on the brake pedal. Its travel may increase noticeably.

Brake Pads

The warning lamp lights red even though the parking brake is released, and a message appears on the control display – brake pads are almost worn out. Replace the brake pads as soon as possible.

For your own safety:

Use only brake pads that BMW has approved specifically for your model. BMW cannot guarantee safety when non-approved pads are used, because it cannot assess their suitability.◄
