Braking assistance systems

~2min read

A set of complementary systems to help you brake safely and optimally in emergency situations: - anti-lock braking system (ABS),
- electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD),
- emergency brake assist (EBA).

Anti-lock braking system and electronic brakeforce distribution

Associated systems to increase the stability and handling of your vehicle when braking, particularly on deteriorated or slippery surfaces.

Activation

The anti-lock system operates automatically when there is a risk of the wheels locking.

Normal operation of the ABS may be felt as slight vibrations in the brake pedal.

In an emergency stop, press very hard and never release the pressure.

Malfunction

L’allumage de ce témoin, accompagné d’un signal sonore et d’un message sur l’écran,

The illumination of this warning light, accompanied by a warning tone and a message on the display, indicates a fault in the anti-lock system which may cause loss of vehicle control when braking.

L’allumage de ce témoin, couplés aux témoins STOP et ABS , accompagné d’un signal

The illumination of this warning light, together with the STOP and ABS warning lights, accompanied by a warning tone and a message on the display, indicates a fault in the electronic brakeforce distribution which may cause loss of vehicle control when braking.

You must stop in the safest possible conditions.

In both cases, consult the CITROËN network or a qualified workshop.

When changing wheels (tyres and rims), make sure they comply with the manufacturer's specifications.

Emergency brake assist

A system which, in an emergency, reaches the optimum braking pressure more quickly, thereby reducing the stopping distance.

Activation

It is triggered according to the speed at which the brake pedal is pressed.

This results in reduced pedal resistance and increased braking efficiency.

In an emergency stop, press very hard and never release the pressure.
