SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
3.6L AND 5.7L ENGINES
These vehicles are equipped with an automatic Oil Change Indicator System. The Oil Change Indicator System will remind you when it is time to take your vehicle in for scheduled maintenance.
Depending upon engine operating conditions, the Oil Change Required message will be displayed. This means your vehicle needs service. Driving conditions such as frequent short-distance trips, towing a trailer, or extremely hot or cold ambient temperatures will affect when the "Change Engine Oil" or "Oil Change Required" message is displayed. Have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible, within the next 500 miles (805 km).
The message "Oil Change Required" will appear in the instrument cluster and a single chime will sound to indicate that an engine oil change is required.
An Authorized Dealer will reset the Oil Change Indicator message after completing the scheduled oil change. If the scheduled oil change is performed by someone other than an Authorized Dealer, the message can be reset by referring to the Instrument Cluster Display.
NOTE:
Under no circumstances should the oil change interval exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km), 12 months, or 350 engine hours of operation, whichever occurs first. The 350 engine hours of operation or idle time is typically of concern only to fleet customers.
Once a month or before a long trip:
- Check the engine oil level.
- Check the windshield washer fluid level.
- Check the tire pressure and inspect for unusual wear or damage. Rotate the tires at the first sign of uneven wear, even if it occurs before your next scheduled service.
- Check the fluid level in the coolant reservoir, brake master cylinder, and power steering reservoir (if equipped) and fill as necessary.
- Check the operation of all interior and exterior lights.
Maintenance Schedule — 3.6 L and 5.7 L
Required Maintenance Intervals:
Refer to the maintenance schedules on the following page for information on required maintenance intervals. More frequent maintenance may be required under severe conditions, such as dusty areas and very short trip driving. Under some extreme conditions, additional maintenance not listed in the maintenance schedule may also be required.

1. Spark plug replacement interval is based on mileage only; do not apply calendar-based intervals.
