Parking Aid Overview

Parking Aid - Audible Warning

Available parking aid features depend on the vehicle trim level and selected options. Possible parking aid audio system configurations are as follows:

  • Rear Parking Aid
  • Front and Rear Parking Aid
  • Front and Rear Parking Aid, and Active Park Assist and Side Object Detection System (also known as Side Guard Assist)

The rear parking aid system provides an audible warning through the rear speakers of the audio system to alert the driver to stationary objects near the rear bumper when the vehicle is moving in reverse. The rear parking aid system may not detect moving objects.

The side object detection system (also known as Side Guard Assist) uses the front and rear side sensors to detect and alert the driver to obstacles beside the vehicle. The side object detection system provides an audible warning when an obstacle is detected on the right or left side of the vehicle while the vehicle is moving slowly forward or in reverse.

The side object detection system is not available when the traction control system is deactivated. The side object detection system may remain unavailable until the vehicle has traveled approximately one vehicle length, which allows the system to reinitialize after the following conditions:

  • The ignition is turned off and back on.
  • The vehicle is stationary for two minutes or more.
  • The ABS is activated.
  • The traction control system is activated.

The parking aid system turns off if a fault is detected in the parking aid system. This is indicated by the Parking Aid Off warning message in the message center.

The parking aid system is turned on and off using the parking aid switch located in the center console. The rear parking aid remains off for one ignition cycle.

When using the MyKey® Limited Access key, the parking aid system is on by default and cannot be turned off.
