Removal and Installation - Steering Gear

Removal

1. 1
   Remove the front subframe.
   Refer to: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System, Removal and Installation).
2. 2
   1. Remove and discard the steering gear retainers.

   2. Position the steering gear on the right-hand side, then remove it from the front subframe.

   

3. 3
   Remove the steering gear retainers and shield.

   

Installation

1. 1
   Hand-tighten all retainers, then complete the tightening sequence as shown below. Step 1 on each retainer, then Step 2.
   

   1. Install the steering gear.

   2. Tighten the steering gear retainers.
      Torque:
      Step 1: 52 lb-ft (70 N·m)
      Step 2: 120°

   

2. 2
   Install the steering gear shield and retainers.
   Torque: 80 lb-in (9 N·m)

   

3. 3
   Install the front subframe.
   Refer to: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System, Removal and Installation).
