Ford Escape: Fuel Charging and Controls / Removal and Installation

Removal

Remove the air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet tube.
Refer to: Air Cleaner Element (303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering, Removal and Installation).

NOTE
To disconnect the throttle body wiring harness connector, release the red connector lock on the throttle body connector by sliding it toward the rear of the throttle body connector, away from the throttle body. Squeeze the throttle body electrical connector to release it.
Disconnect the wire retainer, then disconnect the throttle body electrical connector.

Remove the throttle body bolts, then remove the throttle body.

Inspect the throttle body gasket and replace the throttle body gasket if necessary.

NOTICE: Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and free of foreign material.
Install the throttle body, then install and tighten the throttle body bolts in the sequence shown.
Torque: 89 lb-in (10 N·m)

NOTE
To connect the throttle body wiring harness connector, snap the red connector lock into place after the throttle body electrical connector is fully seated. The red lock does not slide forward unless the throttle body electrical connector is fully seated.
Connect the throttle body electrical connector, then install the wire retainer.

Install the air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet tube.

Road test the vehicle.
