Description and Operation - Cruise Control - Overview
Overview
The ACC cruise control system is controlled by the PCM, CCM and IPMA.
ACC modes are selected using the steering wheel switches, which are integrated into the left steering wheel switch pod.
The cruise control icons on the steering wheel switch change depending on the option:
- Basic cruise control.
- Adaptive Cruise Control.
- Adaptive cruise control with lane centering.
- Adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go.
For additional information, refer to the Owner's Literature.
The following distance setting is selected using the left steering wheel switch.
ACC with Stop and Go technology uses radar and camera sensors to adjust vehicle speed to maintain the set following distance from the vehicle ahead in the same lane. Refer to the Owner's Literature for additional information.
Lane Centering ACC uses radar and camera sensors to keep the vehicle in its lane by applying continuous steering assist torque to center the vehicle in the lane, primarily on highways. Refer to the Owner's Literature for additional information.
Intelligent ACC adjusts the set speed based on the observed speed limit. When this mode is selected, a bracket appears around the set speed and a detected speed limit sign is displayed in the information display. The system is designed to set the vehicle speed to the speed limit detected by the Traffic Sign Recognition system before the vehicle exceeds the speed limit sign. Refer to the Owner's Literature for additional information.
The ACC system maintains the selected vehicle speed between 30 km/h and the maximum vehicle speed limit. When the MyKey® Admin Restricted Key is in use and the maximum speed limiter is enabled, the vehicle speed is limited to 129 km/h.
During normal driving, the vehicle speed may vary slightly from the set speed due to road conditions. The vehicle speed may fluctuate when driving up and down a steep grade. If the vehicle speed drops more than 16 km/h below the set speed, cruise control disengages.
