Removal

  1. Observe the health and safety precautions.
    Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).
  2. Disconnect the battery.
    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

Vehicles with 1 L EcoBoost or 1.6 L EcoBoost engine

  1. Disconnect the retainer and move the wiring harness aside.

All vehicles

  1. Remove the nuts and the battery hold-down clamp.
    Torque: 44 lb-in (5 N·m)
  2. Remove the battery.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Vehicles with 1 L EcoBoost or 1.6 L EcoBoost engine

  1. When replacing the battery, use a scan tool to reset the Battery Management System (BMS) after the battery has been disconnected.
