Auxiliary power points
12 V DC power outlet
WARNING
Note: when the ignition is on, you can use the outlet to power 12 V electrical equipment, at a maximum current of 15 A. When the ignition is off, the power supply only works for up to 30 minutes. Note: only insert an accessory plug into the power outlet.
Any other object would damage the outlet and blow the fuse. Note : do not hang any accessory or accessory holder from the outlet. Note: do not use the power outlet beyond the vehicle's capacity, i.e. 12 V DC at 180 W maximum, as this may blow a fuse. Note: incorrect use of the power outlet may cause damage that is not covered by your warranty. Note: always close the outlet cover when the outlet is not in use.
Run the engine for optimum use of the power outlet.
To avoid discharging the vehicle battery:
- Do not use the power outlet for longer than necessary when the engine is off.
- Do not leave devices connected overnight or when the vehicle is in Park (P) for extended periods.
Location
The power outlets are located:
- On the centre console.
- In the centre console.
- At the rear of the console.
- In the cargo area (estate only).
230 V power outlet (if equipped)
WARNING
Do not leave electrical devices connected to the power outlet when they are not in use.
Do not use an extension cable with the 230 V power outlet, as this may defeat the protection system.
Doing so may overload the outlet. The power consumption of several devices may exceed the 150 W limit load, resulting in a risk of fire or serious injury.
Note: leave the vehicle running so the power outlet continues to operate.
You can use the power outlet to power electrical devices requiring up to 150 W. It is located at the rear of the centre console.
The outlet indicator light, located on the outlet, shows when the power outlet can be used.
When the power outlet indicator light is:
- On - the power outlet is ready to supply power.
- Off - the power supply to the power outlet is cut off, as is the ignition.
- Flashing - the power outlet is in fault mode.
The power outlet temporarily stops working if the 150 W electrical load limit is exceeded. The power outlet may also enter fault mode in the event of overload, overheating or short circuit.
In the event of overload or short circuit, disconnect your device and switch the ignition off, then back on.
In the event of overheating, first allow the system to cool down. Then switch the ignition off and back on.
Do not use the power outlet for certain electrical devices, including:
- CRT (cathode ray tube) televisions.
- Motor loads, such as vacuum cleaners, electric saws and other power tools, or compressor-driven refrigerators.
- Measuring devices that process precise data, such as medical equipment or measuring equipment.
- Other applications requiring an extremely stable power supply, for example microcomputer-controlled electric blankets or touch-sensor lighting.
Note: If you use the power outlet when the engine is off, the battery may discharge. Note: When the ignition is on, you can use the power outlet to power 12-volt electrical accessories, with a maximum current of 20 amps. Note: After the ignition is switched off, the power outlet operates for a maximum of 30 minutes only. Note: Only use Ford accessory connectors or connectors designed for use with SAE-type plugs.
