Your vehicle is an important investment, and proper care can help you avoid costly repairs in the future. Maintenance for vehicle performance and additional service may be necessary.
It is recommended that your dealer perform these services. Our trained dealer technicians know your vehicle best. Your dealer can also perform a thorough multipoint inspection to recommend when your vehicle may require attention.
The following list is intended to explain services and conditions to look for that may indicate which services are required.
Battery
The 12-volt battery provides power to start the engine and to operate any additional electrical accessories.
- To avoid breakdown or failure to start the vehicle, keep the battery at full starting power.
- Trained dealer technicians have diagnostic equipment to test the battery and make sure that the connections and cables are free of corrosion.
Belts
- Belts may need to be replaced if they squeal or show signs of cracking or splitting.
- Trained dealer technicians have access to tools and equipment to inspect the belts and recommend adjustment or replacement as necessary.
Brakes

Proper fluid levels and approved fluids protect the vehicle systems and components. Refer to Recommended Fluids and Lubricants and GM Approved Fluids.
- Engine oil and windshield washer fluid levels should be checked at every refueling.
- The instrument cluster light may come on to indicate that a fluid level may be low and needs to be filled.
Hoses
Hoses carry fluids and should be checked regularly to ensure there are no cracks or leaks. During the multipoint inspection your dealer can examine the hoses and recommend whether replacement is needed.
Lamps
Properly functioning headlamps, taillamps, and brake lamps are important for seeing and being seen on the road.
