Obstacle Detection Features

~1min read

If the power liftgate contacts an obstacle during an opening or closing cycle, the liftgate will automatically reverse direction and travel a short distance away from the obstacle. After the obstacle is removed, power liftgate operation can be resumed. If the liftgate contacts multiple obstacles in the same power cycle, the power function will be deactivated. After removing the obstacles, manually close the liftgate, which allows normal power function operation to resume.

If the vehicle is locked while the liftgate is closing and an obstacle is encountered that prevents the liftgate from fully closing, an audible chime will signal that the liftgate did not close.

Pinch sensors are located on the side edge of the liftgate. If an object is caught between the liftgate and the vehicle and presses the sensor, the liftgate will reverse direction and open fully. The liftgate will remain open until it is activated again or closed manually.
