Vehicle Alarm

This vehicle is equipped with a theft-deterrent alarm system.

The indicator light on the instrument panel near the windshield shows the status of the system:

Off: The alarm is disarmed.

Solid On: The vehicle is protected during the delay after arming the system.

Fast Flash: The vehicle is not secured. A door, the hood, or the liftgate is open.

Slow Flash: The alarm system is armed.

Arming the Security Alarm System

   Turn off the vehicle.

   Lock the vehicle using one of two methods:

   • Use the RKE transmitter.
   • With a door open, press the INTERIOR LOCK button. .

   After 30 seconds, the alarm system will arm, and the indicator light will begin to flash slowly, indicating that the security alarm system is armed. Pressingthe RKE transmitter LOCK button a second time will bypass the 30-second delay and arm the security alarm system immediately.

The security alarm system will not arm if the doors are locked with the key.

If the driver door is opened without first unlocking it with the RKE transmitter, a chime will sound and the indicators will flash, indicating a pre-alarm. If the vehicle is not started, or the door is not unlocked by pressingthe UNLOCK button on the RKE transmitter within 10 seconds, the pre-alarm will become an alarm.

If the door, hood, or liftgate is opened without first disarming the system, the turn signal indicators will flash and the horn will sound for approximately 30 seconds. The security alarm system will then re-arm to monitor for the next unauthorized event.

Disarming the Security Alarm System

To disarm the security alarm system or turn off the alarm if it has been activated:

• PressPress the UNLOCK button on the RKE transmitter.
• Start the vehicle.

To avoid accidental alarm activation:

• Lock the vehicle only after all passengers have left the vehicle and all doors are closed.
• Always open the door with the RKE transmitter key.

Unlocking the driver door with the key will not disarm the security alarm system or turn off the alarm.

How to Detect an Unauthorized Entry

IfIf the RKE transmitter is pressed and the horn chirps and the lights flash three times, an alarm occurred previously while the alarm system was armed.

If the alarm has been activated, a message will appear in the driver information center (DIC).
