Child Restraint System (CRS) Installation
WARNING
Before installing a child restraint system, always:
- Read and follow the instructions provided by the child restraint manufacturer.
- Read and follow the instructions regarding child restraint systems in this manual.
Failure to observe all warnings and instructions may increase the risk of SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH in the event of an accident.
WARNING
If the vehicle head restraint prevents proper installation of the child seat as described in the manual child seat system, the head restraint for the seating position must be adjusted or completely removed.
After selecting a suitable child seat for your child, make sure it fits properly in your vehicle. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer when installing the child seat. Observe these general steps when installing the seat in the vehicle:
- Properly secure the child restraint to the vehicle. All child restraints must be attached to the vehicle with the lap part of the lap/shoulder belt or with the LATCH system.
- Make sure the child restraint is firmly secured. After installing the child restraint to the vehicle, push and pull the seat forward and backward and side to side to make sure it is securely attached to the seat. A child restraint installed with the seat belt must be installed as tightly as possible. However, some side-to-side movement can be expected.
- Secure the child in the child restraint. Make sure the child is properly restrained in the child restraint according to the manufacturer's instructions.
CAUTION
A child restraint in a closed vehicle can become very hot. To avoid burns, check the seat surface and buckles before placing the child in the child restraint.
