Service Adjustment Procedure

   Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.

   Measure the distance the steering wheel turns until the front wheels begin to move.

   Standard value: 0 ~ 30 mm (1.18 in) or less

   If the play exceeds the standard value, inspect the steering column, shaft, and linkage.

   Place the vehicle on a level surface and set the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.

   Start the engine and turn the steering wheel several times from lock to lock to warm up the power steering fluid.

   Attach a spring scale to the steering wheel. With the engine speed at 900 to 1100 rpm, pull the scale and read the value as soon as the wheels start to turn.

   Standard value: 2.5 kgf

   If the measured value exceeds the standard value, inspect the power steering gear and pump.
