Exterior
Exterior Care
To maintain the vehicle's performance, regular maintenance must be performed.
Always perform vehicle maintenance in accordance with environmental pollution control requirements.
Carefully select cleaning materials, etc., as they must not contain abrasives. If in doubt, consult an authorized Hyundai dealer.
Washing
Chemicals contained in dirt and dust on the road surface can damage the paint and body of the vehicle with prolonged contact.
Frequent washing is the best way to protect the vehicle from this type of damage. It is also an effective protection against environmental factors such as rain, snow, sea air, etc.
Do not wash the vehicle under direct sunlight.
Park the vehicle in the shade and spray it with water to remove dust. Then wash the vehicle from top to bottom with plenty of clean water and a vehicle wash brush or sponge.
If necessary, use a mild car wash soap.
Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
After washing the vehicle (including automatic car wash), thoroughly clean the joints and edges of the doors, hood, etc., where dirt tends to accumulate.
Wax Polishing
Wax polishing helps prevent dirt or road chemicals from adhering to the vehicle's paint.
Apply wax solution at least once every three months.
Polishing
Polish the vehicle only if the paint is soiled or has lost its gloss. Do not polish matte parts or plastic bumpers; polishing these parts will cause staining and damage to the surface.
Wheels
Wheels are painted and therefore require the same care and maintenance as the vehicle body.
Chrome parts
To prevent staining and corrosion on chrome parts, wash them with water, wipe thoroughly, and apply a special protective coating. In winter, this should be done more frequently.
Window Glass
Normally, window glass should be cleaned only with a sponge and water.
To remove oil, grease, insects, etc., a glass cleaner may be used. After washing, wipe the glass dry with a clean, dry, soft cloth.
Do not use the same cloth to wipe window glass and paintwork; wax from a polished surface may adhere to the glass and reduce its transparency and visibility.
Windshield Wiper Blades
To remove oil, grease, insects, etc. from wiper blades, use a soft cloth and glass cleaner. If the wiper blades no longer work properly, they must be replaced.
Underbody and Chassis Protection
The underbody of the vehicle is treated at the factory to protect against rust and corrosion. Some areas are sprayed with anti-corrosion agents and wax.
However, the effectiveness of these measures is reduced by stones thrown up by the wheels while driving, road chemicals, etc.
Regularly inspect the underbody (in autumn and spring) and perform preventive treatment if necessary. Since not all materials available on the market are suitable for your vehicle, we recommend having this work performed by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
When washing the vehicle, especially in winter, spray water on the underbody to remove dirt and dust that may contain salt, chemicals, etc.
Engine Compartment
Clean the engine compartment at the beginning and end of winter. Pay particular attention to ledges, crevices, and peripheral parts where dirt containing road chemicals and other corrosive substances may accumulate.
If salt and other chemicals are used for road treatment in your area, clean the engine compartment at least every three months.
Upholstery and Interior
To keep the vehicle in good condition, handle the upholstery carefully and keep the interior clean.
To clean the seats, use a vacuum cleaner and brush. If there are stains, use a suitable cleaner for vinyl and artificial leather, and for fabric materials use an upholstery cleaner or a 3% solution of neutral detergent in warm water.
Vacuum the carpeted floor, and remove stains with a carpet cleaner.
Oil and grease can be removed by lightly blotting with a clean, colorfast cloth and gasoline or a stain remover.
Damaged Paint
Repair small cracks and scratches in the paint as soon as possible using a Hyundai touch-up paint stick, or apply spray paint to them, to prevent corrosion. Inspect the areas of the body closest to the road or near the tires especially carefully; paint damage is caused by stones thrown up from the wheels, etc.
The paint code for your vehicle can be found on the vehicle's paint code information label.
Plastic and Rubber Parts
Use a soft cloth and wash with water. If necessary, use a cleaner specifically designed for plastic. If motor oil, brake fluid, battery fluid, etc. gets on these parts, rinse immediately with water and then use alcohol to remove it completely.
Load Weight and Driving Speed
Remove unnecessary luggage, etc. from the vehicle. The weight of cargo carried on the roof or towed on a trailer must also not be excessive.
It is especially important to correctly adjust the tire air pressure before driving with maximum load and before long-distance trips.
Tire Replacement
Do not use tires that are not the correct size. Tires must be replaced as a set: two front tires, two rear tires, or all four tires.
Do not use a combination of bias-ply and radial-ply tires. For tire replacement, consult an authorized Hyundai dealer.
Curb Parking
If the tires strike a curb or concrete parking barrier, they may be damaged, and this damage may become an extremely dangerous condition if the vehicle is then driven at high speed.
If the vehicle must be driven onto a curb or other similar barrier, drive slowly and at an appropriate angle to the curb or barrier.
Tire Care
Certain rules must be followed for driving safety and to maximize tire service life. The Wheels section of the "Customer Information" chapter contains information on tire inspection, air pressure, and tire rotation.
Tire Inflation Pressure
Always maintain tire air pressure according to the specifications. Measure the pressure when the tires are cold.
If there is any change in vehicle operating conditions (speed and/or load weight), tire air pressure must match the specifications for the new operating conditions. If the vehicle will be driven with varying load weight, etc., adjust the air pressure to match the highest specifications for the vehicle operating conditions (high speeds and maximum load weight).
Tire Storage
Tires must be stored in a dark, well-ventilated area.
Tires not mounted on wheels must be stored upright. Make sure the tires do not contact fuel, oil, grease, etc.
