Headlight aim adjustment

Before performing headlamp aiming, be sure to observe the following:

1. All tires must be inflated to the correct pressure.

2. Park the vehicle on level ground and bounce the front bumper and rear bumper several times.

3. The vehicle must not be loaded (except for full levels of coolant, engine oil and fuel, spare tire, jack and tools).

4. Clean the headlamp lenses and turn on the headlamps (low beam).

5. Open the hood.

6. Draw a vertical line (through the center of each headlamp) and a horizontal line (through the center of each headlamp) on the headlamp aiming screen.

a) Height of the horizontal line from the ground

Van 2WD: 849 mm (33.43 in) 4WD: 972 mm (38.27 in)

Panel van (2WD): 855 mm (33.66 in)

Truck long wheelbase: 847 mm (33.35 in) super long wheelbase: 845 mm (33.27 in)

b) Distance between each vertical line

Van/panel van (2WD/4WD): 1300 mm (51.18 in)

Truck (long wheelbase / super long wheelbase): 1272 mm (50.08 in)

c) Distance between the headlamps and the wall on which the headlamps are tested: 3000 mm (118.11 in).

Then draw a parallel line 30 mm (1.18 in) below the horizontal line.

7. Adjust each low beam cut-off line to the parallel line using a Phillips screwdriver - VERTICAL AIMING (vertical headlamp aiming).

8. Adjust each low beam cut-off line to each vertical line using a Phillips screwdriver - HORIZONTAL AIMING (horizontal headlamp aiming).

Adjustment After Headlamp Unit Replacement

If the front end of the body has been repaired and the headlamp unit has been replaced, check the headlamp aiming using the headlamp aiming screen, as shown in the illustration. Turn on the headlamp switch (low beam position).

1. Adjust the headlamps so that the main beam axis is parallel to the vehicle centerline and aligned to point "P" shown in the illustration.

2. The dotted lines in the illustration show the center of the headlamp beam.

"W" Distance between headlamp centers

Van/panel van (2WD/4WD): 1300 mm (51.18 in)

Truck (long wheelbase / super long wheelbase): 1272 mm (50.08 in)

"L" Distance between the headlamps and the wall on which the headlamps are tested: 3000 mm (118.11 in)

Front Combination Lamp

Remove the lens mounting screw from the front combination lamp.

To remove the bulb socket, turn it counterclockwise.

To remove the side turn signal bulb, turn the bulb counterclockwise while pressing it inward.

To remove the position lamp, pull the bulb out of the socket.

Rear Combination Lamp

Remove the lens mounting screw from the rear combination lamp.

To remove the bulb socket, turn it counterclockwise.

To remove the bulb, turn it counterclockwise while pressing it inward.

License Plate Lamps

Remove the lens mounting screws, remove the lens, then remove the bulb by turning it counterclockwise while pressing it inward.

Interior Room Lamp

To remove the lens, insert a screwdriver into the notch on the lamp housing and gently pry up. Remove the bulb from the bulb socket.

Wrap the tip of the screwdriver with a piece of cloth to avoid scratching the lens.

Step lamp bulb (if equipped)

Remove the lens mounting screws, remove the lens, then remove the bulb by turning it counterclockwise while pressing it inward.
