Recommended SAE Viscosity Index

NOTICE

Always clean the area around the oil filler cap, drain plug, or dipstick before checking or draining the oil. This is especially important in dusty or sandy conditions and when the vehicle is used on unpaved roads. Cleaning the areas around the filler cap and dipstick prevents dirt and sand from entering the engine and other components, which may be damaged.

Engine oil viscosity (thickness) affects fuel economy and vehicle operation in cold weather (starting and oil flow). Engine oils with lower viscosity provide better fuel economy and better cold-weather performance; however, engine oils with higher viscosity are required for proper lubrication in hot weather. Using oils other than the recommended ones (regardless of viscosity) may damage the engine.

When selecting oil, consider the temperature range in which your vehicle will be operated until the next oil change. Select the recommended oil viscosity from the table.
