Head Restraint
In this manual: Your Vehicle's Safety System
~1min read
The front and rear seats are equipped with adjustable headrests. Headrests provide passenger comfort but, more importantly, they are designed to help protect passengers from whiplash and other neck and spinal injuries in a collision, especially a rear impact.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death in an accident, observe the following precautions when adjusting head restraints:
- Always adjust the headrests correctly for all passengers BEFORE driving the vehicle.
- NEVER allow anyone to ride in a seat with the head restraint removed.
- •
Adjust the headrest so that the center of the headrest is at the same height as the top of the eyes. - NEVER adjust the driver's seat headrest position while the vehicle is moving.
- Adjust the headrest as close as possible to the passenger's head. Do not use a cushion that keeps the body away from the seatback.
- Make sure the head restraint is locked in the desired position after adjusting it.
NOTICE
To avoid damage, NEVER strike or pull on the head restraints.
CAUTION
If there are no passengers in the rear seats, adjust the headrest height to the lowest position. A rear seat headrest may reduce visibility of the rear area.
