Seat Belt Reminder Light

As a reminder to the driver, the unfastened seat belt warning light illuminates for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition switch is turned ON, regardless of whether the seat belt is fastened.

If the seat belt is not fastened when the ignition switch is turned ON, or if it is unfastened after the ignition switch is turned ON, the unfastened seat belt warning light will remain illuminated until the seat belt is fastened.

If you start driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed below 20 km/h, the warning light will remain illuminated until you fasten the seat belt.

If you continue driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed above 20 km/h, the unfastened seat belt warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds and the warning light will flash.

As a reminder to the front passenger, the front passenger's unfastened seat belt warning light will illuminate for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition is turned on, regardless of whether the seat belt is fastened.

If the seat belt is not fastened when the ignition switch is turned ON, or if it is unfastened after the ignition switch is turned ON, the unfastened seat belt warning light will remain illuminated until the seat belt is fastened.

If you start driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed below 20 km/h, the warning light will remain illuminated until you fasten the seat belt.

If you continue driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed above 20 km/h, the unfastened seat belt warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds and the warning light will flash.

WARNING

Riding in an improper position adversely affects the front passenger seat belt warning system. It is important for the driver to instruct the passenger to sit properly, as described in this manual.

Information

• The front passenger unfastened seat belt warning light is located in the center fascia panel.
• Even when the front passenger seat is unoccupied, the unfastened seat belt warning light will flash or illuminate for 6 seconds.
• The front passenger unfastened seat belt warning may activate when luggage is placed on the front passenger seat.

As a reminder to rear passengers, the rear seat unfastened seat belt warning light illuminates for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition switch is turned ON, regardless of whether the seat belt is fastened.

The corresponding rear seat belt warning light will then illuminate for approximately 35 seconds if one of the following events occurs:

- You drive at a speed above 9 km/h while the rear seat belt is unfastened.
- The rear seat belt is unfastened while driving at a speed below 20 km/h.

If the rear seat belt is fastened, the warning light will turn off immediately.

If the rear seat belt is unfastened while driving at a speed above 20 km/h, the corresponding unfastened seat belt warning light will flash and a warning chime will sound for 35 seconds.

However, if the rear passenger lap/shoulder belt is fastened and unfastened twice within 9 seconds after being fastened, the corresponding warning light will not operate.
