The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is the number used when registering your vehicle and for all legal matters concerning its ownership, etc.

The number is stamped on the floor under the right front seat. To check the number, open the cover.

The VIN is also located on a plate attached to the upper part of the left side panel. The number on the plate is clearly visible through the windshield from outside.
