Inspection

  1. Disconnect the vapor hose from the PCV valve, then remove the PCV valve.
  2. Reconnect the PCV valve to the vapor hose.
  3. Start the engine and let it idle, then place your finger over the open end of the PCV valve and make sure vacuum is felt in the intake manifold.

    • The piston inside the PCV valve will move back and forth under vacuum.

  4. If no vacuum is felt, inspect the PCV valve. If it operates properly, clean or replace the vapor hose.
